The contact owns a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox. The contact stated that while reversing from a complete stop, the rearview camera and beeping sound were inoperable, causing the vehicle to crash into an electrical grid. The liftgate and the rear bumpers were damaged. There were no injuries sustained. The vehicle was drivable and was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that the VIN was not included in a related recall, and the vehicle was not covered under warranty due to the mileage and age. The contact stated that after the manufacturer performed an over-the-air (OTA) update to the OnStar system, the radio module and infotainment system became inoperable, rendering the rearview camera and the OnStar system inoperable. The vehicle was taken to the local dealer, who diagnosed that the radio module needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 79,665. The Park Assist light keeps coming on and should have been a recall for this item I was told by the dealership last year and they supposedly ordered part. I never received a call and now light is still coming on due to not showing any open recalls and item was never repaired The Infotainment/Radio display goes blank or only shows random lines. This problem continues to happen several times per week. When this occurs, the Back up camera does not work which I believe violates FMVSS 208. The vehicle has been taken to the Dealership twice and the issue has not been fixed. The first visit they replaced the Radio/Radio Display and that did nothing to help the problem.
